My Name is Pam Stemmer Creator and Teddy Bear Artist of Acorns & Oak Trees.
I come from a long line of creative women whether it was sewing, painting, cooking or singing, the women in my family are always creating something to inspire joy, love and lots of smiles.
Crafting was always a pastime in our house and I started craft sales at a young age with my Mom and Aunt. Eventually I went to work in my Aunt’s craft consignment store and on to manage a fabric store. When I married and moved back to our home town to start a family, my love of sewing, crafting and creating allowed me to be a stay at home mom.
Acorns & Oak Trees started 20 years ago as I started to specialize in one of a kind upcycled fur Teddy Bears and other furry friends that I sold on eBay and was so pleased and proud when they started shipping all over the world. That gradually grew into getting published in Teddy Bear & Friends and Teddy Bear Review Magazines, which in turn started getting me special orders where I would make a family Teddy Bears from “Grandma’s” or “Mom’s” old fur coats as a keepsake or memory bear.
About 9 years ago I was approached by a family whose mom was a knitter wanting keepsakes for the family and that is how I started making Sweater Mitts. These past few years I have been asked to make a variety of items for keepsakes and straight out to buy for gifts.
Now I am known as the fur coat and sweater recycling specialist.
Each item is handcrafted with passion and joy and I believe that shows in my work.
The greatest compliment is the smiles that my creations put on the faces of those who look and touch them.
When not in the studio I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love coffee, cooking, gardening, snowshoeing, kayaking, reading, camping and a good glass of wine.
The outdoors inspires me and any chance I get, I sew and create outside at our beautiful lake side home at Pelican Lake, Manitoba.
